While I believe that nothing stops the BG in their tracks like a .45, I also believe that a misplaced shot could cause severe damage to the aircraft, including the eternally feared explosive decompression should the hull be penetrated.
A round piercing the fuselage will not cause an explosive decompression (except in the movies
