I think you have really hit the nail on the head! I sampled both products a couple of months ago and my impressions were the same as yours.

We absolutely adored the onboard service of SQ.

However, the TG limo, escort from check-in through immigration to lounge then later collected and escorted to the aircraft, the more exclusive feel of the TG F lounge at BKK and not to forget the great seat certainly level the playing field. The ability to dine facing your travelling companion gives a restaurant to onboard service. NZ C also provides this possibility but the companion seat can be an uncomfortable experience for all bar waifs.

Totally agree with your comments regarding the older TG FAs seeming rather inexperienced. Once we were seated, she tried to open my window pocket compartment that stowed the amenity kit but failed several times before I showed her how to open it despite the fact I had never set foot in the cabin before.
