I have just been using AA.com to search all these things - should I be calling AA directly as well to see what they can come up with or will it be exactly the same?
1) Upgrades on an award ticket (for 2 pax) are
only the rare op-up. When was the last time you or gf were struck by lightening?? Op-ups exist but RARE and would be first given to fare paying pax. Your award ticket probably would be the last op-up considered.
2) eVIP
cannot be used on an award ticket .. read the Membership Guide.
3) There are C4 available on 11/17 tho you have to go LGA-MIA-CDG (C4 on the MIA-CDG leg). There are no C fares open on the 27th .. tho on the 28th there are C3 on several CDG-LHR-JFK flights. C is the class required for an upgrade from a paid ticket with eVIP or miles. U class is award business class .. there are U3 via MIA on the 17th but nothing on the 26/27 and only 1 on the 28th. U3 on the 29th tho...
4) um .. yes you should have called AA immediately.
