1. It can be pretty hot in August.
2. Most buildings in Paris are not air conditioned.
3. Because of 1 & 2, most Parisians take the month of August as vacation.
4. Because of 1, 2, &3, many restaurants in Paris close for August. Museums and other attractions may have reduced hours.
5. It is not for nothing that Paris is known as the world's largest outdoor urinal. The heat of August can intensify the odor.

We love Paris, and go pretty frequently, but not in August.
