Sorry, but I do not have much faith in the media nowadays. Ratings, advertising space and papers sold seem to have a higher priority than indepth impartial reporting or editorializing.
I have seen first hand how a "stories" facts have been distorted to capture the eye of the viewer for News broadcasts, I've read articles about happenings that I have seen first hand and the "facts" presented bore no relation to what actually happened.
There are definately columnist that I think still have integrity but their numbers are dwindling. Simpson routinely let's his emotions get the better of him and let's loose a rant like this, but the disturbing thing I find is that the editors and management at the Globe thought it was okay to print this childish rant. A more adult approach to airing his greviences would have been much better received IMO.
As I said, it would certainly be nice if we all had a national forum to rant against all the injustices we face in our daily lives. Anyone can write a trash piece like Simpsons' but he should be able to do better, it is after all what he gets paid to do.
