I answered your cross-post in the QF forum; the rules on QFF and AAdvantage are completely different. QFF is always point-to-point, so allows
any routing that you want -- but charges you for it, with more miles. 48K on QFF, to be precise, vs. 20K on AA. However no stopover is allowed on the AA award, which can be solved by using 2 awards (or 40K for the desired routing).
These rules change every year, so checking now without plans for travel might be fun but doesn't mean that you will be able to do it when the time comes. Lots of big rule changes in both plans over the past year, maybe more to come.
