Spaten is that German beer and is a major brewery in Munich. Excellent mass market beers, and cheap (less cheap in the US). Their Hefeweizen is quite good. Pilsner Urquell is well worth trying (the original pilsner, and somehow survived adulteration under communist ownership, now back on its way to become a great beer). These 2 beers fit well into this thread, as they are the "anti-Guinness" beers (about as different from Guinness as it is possible to be).
