My in-laws will be traveling soon on an AA ticketed itinerary KUL-HKG-SFO-DFW with the KUL-HKG-SFO portion operated by CX (they are ticketed on the AA codeshare flights). My previous experience is that the "overwater" carrier's checked baggage allowance is the one that determines the overall baggage limit (50lbs vs. 70lbs per bag) for the whole itinerary. Since the overwater carrier is CX, but the flight is ticketed as an AA flight (AA has a 50lb limit per bag), which carrier's baggage allowance takes priority for this itinerary? I would assume CX's 70lbs per bag would be the limit, since they are the operating carrier.
