JJ, let me ask you a question. With limited upgrades, why DL?</font>
Well, until late last year, I rarely flew. But in November / December, I finally got started into several jobs that all required low to moderate travel, and with the combo of all three I started flying like mad! I don't have anything to do with the booking process on 2 of those jobs, and between them I got 24 segments on Delta in 5 weeks, not enough for SM, but enough for me to start liking the people at DL.
Remember, I went from rare to lots, really overnight, and not doing any booking myself, the only DL people I was exposed to were the frontline employees who, as has been stated on this board many times, are some of the best in the industry.
So, I decided I would use Delta this year for my main carrier and for status, so for the one job I do have some control over, I booked stuff for the first half of the year, all on DL.
It was unfortunately AFTER this that I had picked up a flyer about the Medallion changes, and I knew what they meant... I was so upset, but there really is nothing I can do... Sooooo, I decided that I would stick with them this year, (I was afraid if I changed mid-year, I would not get ANY status) and try to get GM, so I can comp next year.
I am TUL/MCO based, TUL college, and MCO home, and DL is GREAT for MCO, and pretty good for TUL. AA is next at TUL, but now they are slashing STL, so I like them much less, and with the DL/NW/CO I mean, I can travel on 3 of 6 carriers out of TUL and get status miles.
I am not trying to suggest that I am stuck with DL, I do have a choice, but I am somewhat resistant to change. Soooooooo to answer your question, DL is who I started with, and right now it's who I am comfortabe with, but I assure you I am keeping my eyes open around the Christmas time.
What would you suggest in my situation?
