I used to stay here almost weekly (monthly more recently, and soon to be never), and I've had nothing but good experiences, and that as a lowly Gold.
The staff have always been great and the rooms excellent (albeit small, but good value for money compared to the Widder and Park Hyatt). Oh, and don't forget the excellent selection of free magazines (Time, Newsweek and The Economist) :-)
Perhaps the experience improves on subsequent visits, but I don't feel tempted to test out that theory. Judging by the many other favourable responses, though, it seems like I might just have been unlucky. Although I didn't notice it when I was there, the availability of The Economist is certainly a point in the hotel's favour.
A couple of remarks that I forgot to add in my original post:
Breakfast wasn't included in my rate, and cost a rather steep 35 francs. On the other hand, you could order some a la carte items, including steak and some other hot items.
Also, the location isn't the handiest, being a very long walk or a short taxi ride from the main train station. Incidentally, the hotel is right next door to the SPG Europe office, which I thought was quite an irony.
