No need to do that since Amex 'recognises' BA payments.
You might want your friend to sign up for BAEC and then you get him onto your household account if you want to 'get your miles back'.
Although remember, if you do this, you will not be able to redeem your miles for anyone outside of your household account. Keep your accounts separate and you can redeem for whoever you want.
