The complete phrase is "fell off the water wagon," which is how water was distributed in towns of the 19th century wild wild west. No idea why I remember stuff like that.
As for guiness ... love one once in a while, but never in hot weather. In July, I'll have that microbrew ale, please, and someone else can have the Hefe Weizen.
Edit to add: IMHO bud and its kin are merely alcohol delivery systems, and therefore pointless. I'd rather have water. When I drink beer, I want to enjoy it ... so thx for the reminder in a later post about Guiness and shellfish. mmm indeed.
