Let's take an example: Currently, I'm staying at an HGI, and the rate is $60/night. Factoring in the difference in surroundings, breakfast, and so on, I figure I'm paying a $20/night premium. For this $20, I'm getting Hilton points. At present, I'm getting about 3400 points/stay. So, my cost for these points is $20/3400, or about $0.006 per point.
The question is, then: what can I get for these points?
I can not believe you are in the HGI for $60. Is it an airport location on the weekend? I understand and agree with you, on the motel 6 and everything is extra over that, but I could not see me spending 200 nights a year in a motel 6. I would have issues with 200 nights in a Hampton inn. I can do them when needed, nothing wrong with them, but everyday they get old quickly.
