I sort-of suspected that age was the reason you weren't going to drive.

I think that the absolutely cheapest ride to the game for your situation is the following:

Ask the hotel shuttle take you to the LAX Transit Center. If the hotel shuttle only wants to take you to the airport, no problem - take the hotel shuttle to the airport, then the free airport-provided bus to the LAX Transit Canter (you can also "bribe" the hotel shuttle driver with a tip) .

Then, take MetroBus 42 from the LAX Transit Center all the way to the Coliseum. Piece of cake!

Select the first option to see the least expensive alternative.


One thing: The Coliseum (and USC itself) is located in an area that is (ahem) somewhat dicey. If you are going to a night game, exercixe all due caution, and check the MTA schedules very very carefully on the MTA website, because many bus lines are set up for people going to and from work (so they stop running fairly early in the evening).
