Actually, I think South Toronto is the lost city of Atlantis. It's submerged in Lake Ontario right about where the city gets its water supply, which may account for the funny color and taste.
Maybe for fun we should start a thread about the funny things we hear about Canada when travelling in the States!
I know I have heard quite a few that I could put on the list!
