Well, I came back on an overnight flight from the US getting in this morning...the new headsets were onboard, I only used them for a short while as I wanted to get some sleep (thanks to the u/g from W ).

They have the dual connector on the end, so use both connection slots in the seat, sound quality is a huge improvement on the old style headphones ^

They do seem to reduce the background noise considerably. Having never used noise reducing or eliminating headsets before I was pretty impressed. The only downside was the size, they cover your whole ear, and then some more - meaning falling asleep with them on isn't practical.
