I do this with my Oz tickets all the time. Using my regular consolidator, I make a booking. It's a confirmed reservation, with a PNR etc. I can pre-allocate seats. But no ticket (electronic or paper) has been issued - and, importantly, I haven't paid the TA anything other than a token deposit. Taking this off topic, but in the above scenario and you reserve a seat but don't pay and you are on a 60 day advance purchase ticket type - do you take from the allocation for the fare class even thought it is only reserved not booked. For example, if you reserve an I class, but when you come to pay 60 days before, and only J class is available to book at that time, would you have to pay the J class as that is the current availability or would you still use the I class.
Do this all the time through the work T/A, but they always state fare is not guaranteed till ticketed - but don't take much interest as it's not my money and is more often than not out Sunday, back Friday so only books in to the most expensive class.
