My $90 fee posted June 1st so I prompty called BOA (on June 6th) to "cancel" the card to see what kind of retention offer they'd give me. I've had the card 2+ years and spent just under $20k each year (paid ontime everytime). When I said I was calling to cancel they said "no problem, I'll put you through to our cancellation dept". I was thinking this would really be the "retention dept" but nope....the woman said she'd cancel the acct immediately and mail me a confirmation letter. I said that I liked BOA but that Juniper had a great offer (miles and no fee) and that I was going to try them. She didn't even offer me any miles or fee waiver....just cancelled the acct on the spot. I logged onto my BOA online acct about 10 mins later and the account was GONE!

Just a word of warning....I really didn't want to keep the BOA card, but thought heck if they give me 15k or 25k miles and waive the annual fee that I'd keep it another year. oh well.
