Jet-ways are used to the CRJ's in Boise, ID as well (with the adverse effect (in Boise) that the carry-on luggage checked upon boarding has to be picked up with the regularly checked luggage after the usual wait-time).
There are two more reasons that the CRJ IMO feels cramped: 1) the curve of the "tube" makes it very difficalt for a broad-shouldered person sitting in a window seat to not feel pushed up against the isle seat assenger and 2) the very narrow seat divider, appearing much narrower than on a regular jet, further exacerbates this. Being a "big guy" myself, I can testify to the absolute discomfort it is to sit beside anhother big guy in a CRJ, something that has never been a problem when sitting in coach in a mainline (though my memories from this are somewhat foggy after having made PM

)
