Shut down DCA? Why sure, it's for national security interests, of course.

But wait. You know what, better shut down SAN and DEN and SNA, and LAX and EWR and JFK as well. I mean, some terrorist could hijack a plane at SAN and fly it into the naval bases there, and we can't have that. And they could hijack a plane from LAX and SNA and fly it right into the heart of downtown Los Angeles, and we can't have that. And they could hijack a plane and fly it into NORAD out of DEN and we can't have that. And all those airports by New York -- can't have them doing that, either. Come to think of it, we better shut down ORD too. Can't have them crashing into the Sears Tower.

Shutting down DCA will do nothing to increase our security and will have a severe adverse effect on the transportation of government officials, military personnel, and just plain citizens in and out of the Washington area.

Yeah, that makes perfect sense.
