However, when you walk into a Marriott and lay down your Gold card (50 nights) or Platinum card (75 nights), they know that you're a serious Marriott customer and should be treated as such.

With Hilton, my Diamond card usually signifies significant Hilton patronage, but unfortunately Gold is almost too easy -- you can even get Gold through your Hilton AMEX without spending a single night in a Hilton.
