I think, for now, the answer is that you have to call in and see if they can give you your desired routing over the phone. The old site gave far, far more routing options including (i) double-connection one-way routing for mileage runs and (ii) United --- and other Star Alliance member --- code share flights, all of which appear to be gone on the new site. On the whole, the new site sucks in my opinion.
