You are certainly correct about not knowing if you are inconveniencing anyone in Y, but in some premium cabins there is enough OHB space for all pax even if all have more than 1 rollaboard and 1 "personal item". Also, (as in the OP's case), on UX, all large carry-ons get gate checked anyways. @:-)
