Everyone self-insures, AA can be no exception. A deductible a/k/a retention is nothing more than a margin of self-insurance built into a policy. Thus all of us self-insure the first $250 or more on our automobiles.

Are you suggesting that AA's insurance policies (airframe, liability, etc.) have no deductibles?
