I dont think anyone (I sure hope not) had it in their head that the FA's could/should carry the actual carts up the stairs.
I agree the crew probably was as unhappy as anyone (possibly more?) with the alternative that they had to endure themselves. The flight crew dislikes irregular ops as much as anyone.
