Thank you, jan_az, for the most relevant point yet. The difference between a Y and C meal on that flight is the difference between food at McDonald's vs food at Applebee's. Yeah, I'd prefer Applebee's, but I wouldn't go 2 blocks out of my way for either one, and the fare at either one is quickly forgotten.
