An Update

Yes, it's taken this long.

It took about 2 months to get reimbursed for my clothing purchases. No problem there.

But compensation for the wasted time spent shopping, doing laundry, and calling Air France; for their abysmal communication; and most of all for the fact that I had to go my entire vacation without my luggage has not been forthcoming.

I've written to Air France about 4 or 5 times. Each time it takes them a minimum of 4 weeks to reply, and except for my last letter (the second one I wrote to their VP for the USA), every letter is answered by someone other than the person I addressed it to. Well into the letter writing one of their responses was basically a form letter that indicated no knowledge of my file.

The final word from their VP came a few weeks ago and said there will be no compensation. (Reimbursement for clothes I didn't want and don't need is not compensation).

I've now filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and I'll be writing to Delta's VP in charge of SkyTeam. As a direct result of this experience I did not fly Delta to Scandinavia a few weeks ago because all their flights connected with AF.

Instead I had quite a nice trip on Star Alliance carriers.
