I hate it when I have to wait for my flight's baggage carousel to be practically empty to report my luggage missing only to find out that the airline had set it aside. Sometimes it is out in the open where anybody can grab it.
Have never had this happen. This means you are spacing your connections too far apart... if the baggage can make it, then you certainly can.
