I think the OP was just expressing pleasure that Japan will buy some boats from Australia.
I wonder whether those high speed ferries will be viable though - They delayed the introduction of the high speed service to the Ogasawara Islands (Bonin Islands) because the ocean going catamaran turns out to be a fuel guzzler.
And since Jpatokal mentioned Shimokita... I'll say that I had a blast there in 2001. I was one of the last few hundred passengers to ride the Shimokita railway line to Ohata. (Almost everyone else on that train was a railway fanatic - with cameras and audio equipment. I don't think the railway had ever seen so many passengers). That's certainly a beautiful region. (But OMG what a lot of snow).
