I'm pretty ashamed of it myself, but not because newscasters add their personal touch. What disgusts me is that what passes for news is really voyeurism. Much of what is broadcast and printed has no direct impact on viewers. They just seem to glean the most sensational or bizarre items and run them to death. I don't care about a house fire across town, let alone a years worth of some girl who disappeared on Spring Break.

I would not say that one country has a monopoly on trash news, however.
