Apparently the Q-series are much better on the noise thing. Since AC does not have any, I have no direct experience, but that's definetely what our friends in Downsview are saying.
Isn't it a bit of a paradox that, with the CR7 seemingly having better economics for longer range compared with the EMB175/190, while the Dash-8 has better economics than the EMBs (and for sure the CRJ/CR7) for short range, AC ended up getting a large fleet of relative gas guzzlers?
And yes, I know of the comfort issue. Still, running routes like YUL-YYC and I imagine YOW-YYC on the E190 surely is predicated upon not many Tango/Tango+ seats being offered, I would think. But then perhaps that's the gist of the new AC business model?
If I am right on the relatively poor fuel economy of the E190 on longer routes, and if fuel prices continue to increase, this strategy might still end up turning into a loser?
