So I had one of these Imperial Villa points redemptions as well for the Bali Do weekend. I'd emailed the Club Intercontinental manager with regards to transportation the week before and was assured that the points redemption would be honored.

The night before I was due to go, I get a call from Dina (the Club Intercontinental Director) to say that she had bad news - a high-ranking government official decided he wanted the villa for the weekend and the hotel's parent company had a agreement with the government requiring them to honor the request. Apologizing for the disappointment, Dina said she would give me an Uluwatu Suite, return the points to my account and offer me two more free nights at the IC Bali. I was more than happy with that offer, but mentioned to her that I had friends joining me and was looking forward to the second bedroom in the Villa. She said she would see what she could do and called back to say that she had found a second connecting room to the Uluwatu Suite. This was more than I could ask for on a weekend when the hotel was sold out ^

So I drop off an email to the other FTers joining me later to tell them about the downgrade so that they don't come in expecting a Villa. I got my airport pickup and guess what? He drives me straight to the private driveway of the 6000-series villa, where Dina was waiting. She said the government official cancelled his trip and so we could have our Villa back. And for the "inconvenience", she would credit my points back as well! ^

I've stayed at the IC Bali 3 times now - in the Club Loft Suite, Bukit Suite and the Imperial Villa - and it is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed at. I wondered who "Dina" was when she was talked about in this thread...it turns out she only joined the IC Bali after my last stay, so this was my first time meeting her, but she is a great asset to the hotel.

Received full Club privileges to all occupants on the points stay, as well as the champagne, daily fruits, daily bottle of Merlot, option of free breakfast in the villa dining room, private butler, the works. Oh, and the hotel was really sold out - they had to walk 8 people on the first day of our stay.
