You could have emailed them back stating the T&C. I've never been denied on multiple non-consecutive night claims at the same hotel. My last claim was just last week.

I got back yesterday from my stay at the Howard Johnson Inn Encinitas. No problem, great staff and no tax.

This weekend I'll be staying for free in Orange County at the Ramada Hotel Anaheim.
