I consider getting through LAX security to be at least as big a pain as SJC. And with regard to the Tokyo flight, of course, you hit SJC off-peak, so it took like 3 minutes to get through security -- and about the same on the return.

Regardless, what appears to be the loss of 240 seats daily to Tokyo isn't good for us -- especially on the west coast.
