It is a security/personal safety issue. Geez, with one FF posting our layover hotel information and others wanting full names, we might as well just make a p.a. with our home addresses. Although you are probably a nice, normal guy, there are a lot of psychos in the world and yes, some manage to find their way onto airplanes.
Name bars are required while on the airplane, not off. ID's are to be put away before boarding commences.
