The One thing puzzles me though. At LGW like at NCL, GLA, MAN etc. there is no need to remove laptops etc from bags being screened. Is this because the equipment used at LHR is so inferior? This doesn't seem very likely to me.
A security screener at LGW said it didn't trally make much difference for most bags and laptops, it just saved them putting a bag round a second time with the laptop removed.
I have cretainly been at LGW when they have asked you to remove laptops.
