Band 2 catering ....

So, off we trots to Berlin in CE for the weekend ....

Flight delayed for 2.5 hours due to the cross-winds at LHR. Plane eventually leaves at 21.30, so I am pretty hungry by this point. I was therefore NOT over-excited to find a cr*ppy salad plonked in my lap at 10pm, having not eaten for quite a long time by this point.

Big moan from myself. 10 minutes later a hot chicken curry is offered to me. Apparently the captain wasn't feeling hungry so I can have his meal!

Coming back, 19.40 from Berlin last night, another cr*ppy (albeit tasty) salad. Apparently that is all you get on Band 2 flights in CE these days outside of breakfast time. And this is for a flight that would cost £700 had you bought a flexible ticket.

This is, quite frankly, very poor. 'Long' flights to Spain get a hot meal, 'short' flights to Germany etc don't get a hot meal. Well, I've got news for BA:

a) Once I've mucked about with getting through the airport, security, boarding, taxiing, queue for take-off etc, the difference in total journey time from when I arrive at the airport is pretty minimal between a Germany flight and a Spanish flight.

b) My hunger is not substantially different whether I am flying to Germany at 7pm or Spain

c) You appear to be charging similar extortionate amount for J tickets on both destinations

I have no problems with salads being served, as long as there is a hot choice as well. But quite frankly, if I was flying out to Germany once a week on business, I would NOT be happy to receive salad, salad, salad and yet more salad .....
