No point in being parochial. True that the CRJ is not great in Y for long flights. But it's probably OK in J. And remember that the CRJ was a quick hack on the Challenger, not really what you would en up if starting from scratch.
The C-series looked like a pretty decent plane OTOH.
And for what it's meant to do, the Dash-8 is not bad at all.
