There are several hotels right near the airport. I have not stayed at the Ramada, so I can’t say much about it.
The HIX downtown is a good hotel, but it is not really near anything, but not too far from anything either.
I agree with the other poster, it all really depends on what part of town you want to visit, where the best place to stay is.

Thanks--this is helpful. We're going to meet some family so no plans to go to Mexico. We will have a rental car and don't mind driving around but that said, it does seem like many of the hotels are near the airport anyway...
