Unless you've business downtown or on the West side of the Franklin Mountains, you're as well off to be close to the airport as possible. I'm not familiar with the Ramada, but Ramadas in this part of the world have suffered substaial cracks due to ageing. If you're planning on avisit to Mexico, the upscale shopping area is across from the entry bridge near the airport.
We used to always stay in Mexico, far "fancier" hotels (if you like purple marble tubs and bright-hued bidets) at modest prices, but it's been 20 years since I've done that, bridge traffic having slowed through the PoEs.
Thanks--this is helpful. We're going to meet some family so no plans to go to Mexico. We will have a rental car and don't mind driving around but that said, it does seem like many of the hotels are near the airport anyway...
