I had tons of Skymiles that I desparately wanted to get rid of. I don't hate Delta, but it had been near impossible for me to redeem a Skysaver award to the destinations I want in years. With the recent bankruptcy and the obvious devaluation of Skymiles, I had been pretty worried about my miles banked. I thought about redeeming them at Medallion Marketplace, but found the redemption rate unjusitifiable.
Then, I checked flights from LAX-HNL-LAX and viola, tons of availability on CONTINENTAL BUSINESS FIRST! There are seats available almost EVERYDAY in June, July, and August in BusinessFirst from LAX-HNL. HNL-LAX have less availability but still doable if you leave LA on a Thursday or Friday morning, you can come back Sunday or Tuesday evening making it a super duper long weekend
I managed to score a continental BF to HNL, then Delta F back to LAX because I like Delta's afternoon flight more vs. Continental redeye.
This is the best use of Skymiles and I'm very excited to try the infamous Continental BusinessFirst to Hawaii ^
