My girlfriend and I will be traveling to Europe this summer. She is leaving a week before me and we are both on the same return direct flight out of MUC in Y. I am Elite and she is basic.

Last year we were on the same return flight and it was overbooked (I was basic at the time). We volunteered for denied boarding, but they never called us. Given that I am now Elite, I am thinking maybe there is a chance of an operational upgrade. Is there a way of flagging the system that she is my traveling companion in case the flight is overbooked? The flight is I0 and J9.

I tried buying her ticket using my account, but it did not seem to be working. If there are SE/E/Ps on the flight they would get preference. I am thinking this might give her an advantage over other non status passengers. Or does it make no difference?
