It happened to me two times on BOS-FRA in eco and I also heard from others that some of the staff on this route are onto this.

It is a nice touch and it doesn't cost LH a penny. On the other side it is a bit humiliating to travel with friends and be approached by cabin staff and beeing the only one to be asked "may I offer you a magazine or a first choice of meals, Mr. important?"
