What is this "greeting" of SENs about?

I have read several posts on this forum mentioning whether this or that person with SEN status has been "greeted" by the cabin staff.

What is this about? Do FAs come to you and say "hello Mr. or Mrs. X, how are you today?" before takeoff?

I am HON and I was SEN since 1995, and NEVER has that happened to me. There are FAs that have their pax list with them on their cart and address every pax by name when doing their drinks and meal service, but that has nothing to do with status.

So am I misunderstanding what everyone means by "greeting" or does it simply never happen to me?
