No, I find that their service is great, it's the ontime performance that isn't very good (for me, atleast).
As for the boarding, they're starting a new program of it in Seatle and I believe all other North American cities by the end of June.

Alaska has a fairly new fleet, great service, good fares, but it's just that ontime performance... And the fact they do few routes out of Calgary.
