I've never travelling on Amtrak before; I just opened the account for transferring frequent flyer points, so it may be targeted at infrequent travellers.
Perhaps the promotion registration is targeted, but H570 can be used by anyone for 25% off (and you don't need to register).
I (and many others) have been using H570 for a 25% discount for most of 2006. (And I think H570 is good thru 12/31/06!)
