Ok, you're in an area with a bit of a dearth of good restaurants. I had to attend a lot of meetings in that area, and basically my two preferred choices were the Italian restaurant by New Scotland Yard (home of the Met police - obviously, do not break any laws while in there, half of the Met's finest are often in residence), and the Pizza Express (chain but not bad chain) on Victoria.

My recommendation would be Busaba Eathai on Store St, which is over towards the British Museum. Kind of thai/indonesian place, no reservations, group tables (so in that respect like Wagamamas), but really good food at pretty reasonable prices.
