I am based near Holborn and during daylight hours I prefer to take the FCC to LGW (from either St Paul's or from KX). If I'm returning from LGW after 8pm-ish then I virtually always prefer GEX + cab.

Last I took the FCC was two weeks ago and it wasn't unpleasant. No food/drink service though. And it did run on schedule.
