I gotta call you on this one. Give me any examples of past presidents regularly causing the types of delays that Bush does (and the Clinton haircut has been proven to be a crock retracted by the LA Times so don't go there). Bush has required more security than any previous president when he travels. Prior presidents have blocked the airspace and airports very briefly while they were landing and departing. Bush's security blocks huge chunks of airspace even while he's on the ground and no longer at the airport (in other words other presidents blocked space for minutes; he takes it for hours and days). We recently had a big mess in San Francisco because of it. I can't say much more about the vast differences in security Bush has when he travels by air (it's quite amazing), but it's unprecedented and messes up air traffic for many. What happens is while he's on the ground, well away from the airport, he still typically has a wide swatch of airspace that's deemed a no-fly zone. Air traffic controllers can't get commercial flights through those areas to other airports. That's about all I can say, but I can tell you for certain that no other president has required what Bush (and Cheney) do when it comes to their air travels.
