with all due respect, a lost uniform IS a big deal simply because the majortity of people in the world don't think and go by the uniform as opposed to asking for i/d.

scenario: bank employee is approached by a person in a police uniform who requests info about a particlular customer. not following procedure, the employee gives out the info under the assumption "they had on a police uniform which had a badge on it". this happens all the time and also so does an unsuspecting motorist getting pulled over by a bogus cop wearing a uniform and a radioshack red light stuck to the roof of their car

now, take this to the level of say, port security, where a person in an "official looking uniform" but never asked for i/d is allowed into areas where they're not supposed to.....if that happens, then goalie-sis will be all over you
